Company Driver – Class 5 (Alberta)

Position Summary

REAL-R is looking for a Company Driver who is responsible for safely transporting the members of the organization to appointments and destinations within Calgary and throughout Alberta, as well as completing various business-related errands. The driver must hold a valid Alberta Class 5 license, maintain a clean driving abstract, and demonstrate a professional, discreet, and customer service-oriented attitude. This is permanent role within the organization. The successful candidate should be willing to work from 6 am to 6 pm and willing to be away from home for the very occasional overnight trips. Working hours may be varied within a Monday to Friday time frame. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely drive the owner to meetings, appointments, events, and other required destinations within Calgary and across Alberta.
  • Plan and follow efficient routes, adjusting for traffic, weather, and road conditions.
  • Assist with sundry errands such as picking up and dropping off documents, packages, and other items as requested.
  • Ensure the vehicle is clean, fueled, and well maintained; coordinate regular servicing and minor maintenance appointments.
  • Perform basic vehicle checks (fluids, tire pressure, lights) and promptly report any mechanical issues.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion regarding the owner’s activities, conversations, and personal information.
  • Adhere to all Alberta traffic laws and regulations and practice defensive, courteous driving at all times.
  • Keep simple records of mileage, destinations, and travel times as requested.

Qualifications

  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Clean, current driver’s abstract (no major violations).
  • Strong knowledge of Calgary and Alberta roadways, including highways and rural routes, or ability to use GPS/navigation tools effectively.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends, based on the owner’s schedule.
  • Professional appearance and demeanour with strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • High level of integrity, reliability, and respect for confidentiality.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily on the road, driving in varying Alberta weather conditions.
  • Hours per week may vary from 30 to 40 hours per week.  
  • May involve long-distance trips within Alberta and occasional extended hours.
  • Role may require lifting and carrying items up to a reasonable weight.
  • Very occasional overnight trips. Lodging and food or per diem will be provided.
