Job Title:  Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter – Service

Location:  Calgary, Alberta and surrounding area.

About the Role

REAL-R is looking for an experienced Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter to join our service team, focused on inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire sprinkler systems at commercial and industrial client sites. This is a field‑based role with a strong customer service component and significant autonomy day‑to‑day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection, testing, maintenance, and repairs on wet, dry, pre‑action, deluge, and other fire sprinkler systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 13, NFPA 25, and local regulations).
  • Diagnose system issues, identify necessary corrective actions, and complete service work orders accurately and on time.
  • Conduct system flow tests, verify proper operation of valves, devices, and components, and document all results.
  • Read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications to support service, small modifications, and tenant improvements.
  • Communicate clearly with customers on site about findings, recommended repairs, and system status, maintaining a professional and service‑oriented approach.
  • Complete required documentation, reports, and service tags in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Safely operate and maintain the assigned service van, tools, and equipment, ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures and always comply with occupational health and safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Recognized Journeyman / Red Seal Sprinkler Fitter certification (or equivalent provincial designation).
  • Demonstrated experience in service, inspection, and repair of fire sprinkler systems in commercial and/or industrial settings.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable fire and building codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 13, NFPA 25, and related regulations).
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, work orders, and technical documentation.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently in the field while managing multiple service calls.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a professional, solutions‑focused attitude.

Driver and Travel Requirements

  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence (or equivalent).
  • Clean driver’s abstract, acceptable to our insurance provider and maintained throughout employment.
  • Comfortable driving a company service van to various client sites within the region, occasionally outside regular business hours as needed.
